Ghana may undergo another Peer Review process next year. In 2006, Ghana became the first African country to be assessed by the African Peer Review Governing Council.
The country was assessed based on four key areas namely political, economic and corporate governance, as well as socio-economic development.
The APRM governing council will officially notify government to release funds for next year’s exercise.
Chairman of the National APRM Governing Council, Professor S.K. Agyepong told Joy News next year’s exercise may not cover all the areas previously reviewed.
He said this year’s review will look at the weaknesses that were identified in the last review and which have been addressed, and “the ones we have not been able to address,” will be attended to.
Meanwhile, Vice President John Mahama has said government will include suggestions by the APRM Governing Council in formulating key policies and programmes.
He was opening the sub-regional conference for countries which have acceded to the APRM this Monday morning in Accra.
