At least 1,500 children in the Pru district in the Brong Ahafo Region have received remedial training to help them catch up with school.
The children aged between eight to 14 years who had abandoned school were identified by an NGO, World Education.
World Education's main focus is to scout for these children and help them enroll into the next academic year of the main stream educational system.
The NGO operated through 45 communities with sixty community facilitators took the children through the training.
The 1,500 pupils were given a nine-month training using the competency-based education (CBE) method.
The approach allows students to advance based on their ability to master a skill or competency at their own pace regardless of environment.
This method is tailored to meet different learning abilities and can lead to more efficient student outcomes.
At a short ceremony July 20, the pupils were handed over to the Pru District of the Ghana Education Service to be enrolled into a school for the next academic year.
The facilitators and some circuit supervisors were presented with 60 bicycles, knapsack, speakers and standing fans for the role they played in teaching and helping enroll the children into mainstream education.
The District coordinator of the NGO, Victor Kwatiah, was grateful to the Pru District Assembly and Education Directorate for accepting and supporting them in the district.
