The Akyem Swedru Circuit Court has remanded a 45-year-old farmer, Seth Kwabena Nyarho, in police custody to reappear on June 26 for threatening to kill his wife.Nyarho, whose plea was not taken, was alleged to have threatened to kill his wife with a gun for her refusal to serve him with a rat soup. The Prosecutor, Police Chief Inspector Ben Osei Kwadwo told the court presided over by Mr Edward Kwame Bosompem Apenkwah that the couple live at Krobaose in the Birim South District. He said on June 11 at about 1500 hours, the complainant prepared soup with a rat she bought from her husband to sell at her drinking spot.Nyarho later insisted that he must enjoy some of the meat free of charge, but his wife refused on the grounds that she paid for the meat. The prosecutor said that led to a misunderstanding between the couple with Nyarho accusing the wife of even not having sex with him for the past three months and pulled out a gun and threatened to kill her but was restrained by people around. He said on June 17 at about 1400 hours, Nyarho again loaded his single barrel gun and threatened to shoot his wife after which he said he would commit suicide. The wife then realised that her husband meant to carry out his threat and reported the case to the police and Nyarho was arrested.Upon interrogation, he led the police to his nearby cocoa farm where the gun loaded with a live cartridge and hidden under dried cocoa leaves was retrieved.Source: GNA
