The Chairman of the Development Planning Sub-Committee of the Assin South District Assembly, Mr. Derrick Owusu-Ambrose has urged Ghanaians not to let the discovery of oil at the Cape Three Points in the Western region give us a false impression that the nation's problems are over.Mr. Owusu-Ambrose, who is also the senior Pharmacist at the Agona Swedru District Hospital said though the oil would cushion the national budget deficit, it did not mean all our problems would be solved, adding that even big oil producing countries have problems to grapple with.Speaking to the GNA at Assin Adiembra, Mr. Owusu-Ambrose described the discovery at the time the nation was celebrating its 50th anniversary as an independent state, as jubilee package from God, adding that it had gone to prove that God works at his own given time.
The discovery should not give us cause to relax, rather it should encourage us to work harder to enable us to reach our Millennium Development Goal earlier than expected, he said.He appealed to Ghanaians to bury political differences and come together to ensure the success of the oil project.Politicization of everything in Ghana now is retarding the nation's progress, he noted.Source: GNA
