Government will meet with security agencies on Friday, February 25 to decide the best evacuation strategy to bring home Ghanaians in Libya.
Ghanaians and other black Africans in Libya are said to be targets of anti-government protesters because they are accused of working as mercenaries for the Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi whose over 40-year reign is under siege.
Over 300 people are reported dead following widespread protests to have Gaddafi step down as demands for political reforms intensify.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme, a deputy Information Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa explained that the meeting is to plan the evacuation exercise.
He added that the Ghana Embassy in the North African country is working very hard to collate the total population of Ghanaians across that country for a smooth repatriation.
The deputy Information Minister said they would investigate claims that the Ghana Embassy in Libya was not responsive to the needs of Ghanaians.
