A Circuit Court in Takoradi on Monday issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Patrick Stephen, 37, for allegedly defrauding a businessman of GH¢ 9, 900 under false pretence.
Sergeant Ben Annor told the court presided over by Mr. Kwasi Boakye that the complainant, James Nketsiah is a businessman, who imports goods.
The prosecution said Stephen, who is a dealer in fridge motors, asked the complainant to import second hand fridge motors from Italy in September last year for him (accused).
Sgt. Annor said that the complainant imported fridge motors to the tune of GH¢ 9, 900 for the suspect.
The prosecution told the court that on January 2, this year, Stephen issued a Barclays Bank cheque for GH¢ 5,000 to Nketsiah, which was dishonoured by the financial institution.
Sgt. Annor said Stephen admitted the offence but failed to appear before court even though he was notified to do so.Source: GNA
