Ghana suffered the heartbreak of another dominant display without reward as the Black Princess fell to a late defeat to New Zealand at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Papua New Guinea.
A late strike from substitute Kayla Christianson sealed the deal for the Oceania team.
The Princess dominated all aspects of the game but their profligacy cost them at the end as Christianson breezed past a hapless Victoria Adjei to calmly slot the ball home.
Coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani started with Black Maidens captain Sandra Owusu Ansah and former Maidens star Jane Ayieyiam up top and the latter should have found the net after an excellent cross from Wasila Diwura-Soale.

Her strike partner, Sandra Owusu Ansah thought she had found the opener when her strike, reminiscent of what she scored against Paraguay in the U-17 World Cup rippled the side netting.
Wasila Diwura-Soule herself could have opened the scoring but shot straight atNew Zealand goalkeeper Nadia Olla after she was put through on.
After a heavy barrage on the defence, New Zealand broke out and were rewarded for Christianson’s persistence as she grabbed the match winner.
Heart break for the Princess but they can make amends against France on Thursday.
