Bright Oduro, aged 19 years and unemployed, has been jailed for six months by the Asante Abuakwa Circuit Court in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality for committing three offences at Abuakwa.
He pleaded guilty to the charges of unlawful entry, causing unlawful damage and attempted stealing.
He was convicted on his own plea.
Police Detective Chief Inspector Alexander Agbekpornu told the court presided by Mrs Philomena Ansaah Asiedu, that the complainant, Kojo Isaac, a mason and the accused resided respectively at Abuakwa-Boaso and Nsonyameye.
On July 17, 2026, at about 1000 hours, the complainant returned home from work and saw his burglar proof exit gate covered with a black pair of trousers.
He inspected the cloth and detected that the burglar proof, valued at GHS 600.00, has been damaged; so he became suspicious and called his wife from her workplace and told her to go and check in the house, whiles he stood back and watched.
He then saw the accused trying to escape from the house, so he arrested and handed him over to the Abuakwa Police.
In his caution statement, the accused person admitted and told the police that he damaged the burglar proof, entered without any permission, purposely to steal, but after seeing the complainant’s wife, he became afraid and wanted to run away.
After further investigations, he was charged and brought before the court.
