Black Queens coach, Yusuf Basigi, has credited his team’s battling qualities as well as his half time team talk for the turnaround victory over Kenya in the African Women’s Championship.
The ladies came from a goal down at halftime to record a 3-1 win over the first timers in the competition.
An elated Basigi was full of his praise for his opponents as well as his team stating that the halftime team talk sparked the revival.
“Any team at this competition is worthy of being crowned champion and don’t have to be underrated.
I had not seen Kenya play and their determination was different. But we did not underrate them.”
“We started well in the first five minutes and had a goal disallowed. It turned on us and they had a goal and it boosted their confidence. The opener dawned on my players.
“During recess, I talked to them and brought them back to life.”
Up next for Basigi and his charges is a big test against Nigeria.
