Over 500 cadres and NDC activists in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality in the Ashanti region have quit the party in protest of the dismissal of the Municipal Chief Executive.
They alleged that Mohammed Boakye–Agyemang's removal was masterminded by some constituency executives for selfish interest.
At a press conference at Juaben, the supporters also accused the executives of resorting to spiritual means known in local parlance as ‘juju’ to invoke sickness when he was at post.
The agitated supporters are from communities such as Dumakwai, Juaben, Abetenem, Ofoase, Odoefe, Krofrom, Nkyerepoase and Boateng.
They say the contributions of Mr. Boakye Agyemang at the party’s grassroot organization and level of development projects in the area under his stewardship cannot be over looked.
Coordinator of the group, John Blay Junior, has told Nhyira FM that members bore no grudge against Prez Mills for sacking the MCE.
They rather blamed constituency and regional executives who they claimed, openly campaigned and worked against to the extent of petitioning the President to kick out Mr. Boakye- Agyemang.
According to the angry supporters, nothing but a reinstatement of the dismissed MCE would bring them back into the fold of the NDC.
"For us the Concern group and cadres, we know no one apart from Boakye-Agyemang. He has been our mentor at the grass root here in the Ejisu-Juaben….His dismissal means we have also been dismissed from the party" Mr. Blay explained.
He accused some constituency executives of resorting to spiritual means known in local parlance as ‘juju’ to invoke a sickness when he was at post.
"At a point they accused him of being an NPP mole and bent on removing him from office and what worried me was in recent times, they resorted to ‘juju’ to kill him".
According to him, despite visiting several hospitals and medical experts, none of them could explain or reveal the cause of his ailment only for a spiritualist to remove some ‘strange things’ from his (Mr. Boakye-Agyemang’s) body.
