Some students of the University of Ghana are protesting the prosecution of nine of their colleagues over the recent molestation of a suspected female thief on the university’s campus.
The nine are standing trial after the victim Amina Mohammed identified them during an identification parade by the police CID.
The court on Thursday adjourned sitting to Friday, but scores of students and some parents were at the court to register their protest.
Joy News’ Francisca Kakra Forson who was in court reports that the students were visibly angry about the prosecution of their colleagues.
Amidst brass band music, the students vowed their solidarity with their colleagues in the dock.
The students said they were disgusted by the manner in which the police treated the suspects.
They said even though the suspects had demonstrated their willingness to co-operate with the court process, they had been handcuffed and treated as criminals.
