The youth of Battor in the North Tongu District of the Volta Region, has expressed concern about the deplorable state of the Battor Township roads.

The Battor Concerned Youth Development Association is also not happy about the poor state of Battor central market.

Addressing a news conference the youth appealed for urgent attention to the poor infrastructure situation.

They noted, the poor state of roads has become a headache affecting the movement of pupils to and from school as well as their businesses amongst others.

The state of the about three (3) kilometre-stretch road from the Battor Senior High School has worsened following recent heavy rains resulting in unbearable situations

Before the press conference, the angry youth displayed several placards showing their seeming anger, accusing the District Assembly of ignoring their legitimate concerns for several years.

A spokesperson for the Association, Wisdom Amegbanu regretted that in spite of the Traditional Area’s contribution to the Assembly’s internally generated fund over the years -which is the largest contributor- the Assembly continues to discriminate against the development of the area.

Mr. Amegbanu also touched on the deplorable state of the Battor Central Market and urged the Assembly to urgently tackle the problem to ameliorate the plight of the market women and other visitors to the market.
