The National Youth Authority has implored the youth of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) desist from lawless acts by taking advantage of the many opportunities in the country.
At a news conference in Accra Monday, NYA CEO, Emmanuel Asigri, said such acts as locking offices to demand jobs undermine the potentials of the youth.
“We urge the young people causing disturbances at Youth Employment Agency (YEA), School feeding facilities, National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and District Assembly offices to read the game instead of invading the pitch,” he said.
The country has recorded about 19 attacks perpetrated by supporters of the NPP since the declaration of the 2016 general elections.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been promising to crack the whip on the lawless youth, but sections of Ghanaians have expressed their displeasure with his actions.
There were two such attacks last week in which NPP supporters forced the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Sissala West out of his office.
Another group had earlier locked up the Karaga YEA Coordinator in the Northern Region.
But the NYA has asked the youth to take advantage of government’s many policies to reposition themselves in the society.
“Read the game instead of invading the pitch, seize the moment instead of seizing office keys and unlock their potentials instead of locking padlocks,” NYA boss said.
Mr Asigri has called on the government to touch base with every part of the country so that development will not become lopsided.
