Late Alhaji Lumina Muniru's son has paid an emotional tribute to his late father at the National Inter-Faith Memorial Service, describing his life as one defined by love, humility, service and integrity, and saying his values continue to guide the family and many people whose lives he touched.

Speaking at the National Inter-Faith Memorial Service for the departed eight on August 6, Muniru's son said the family’s grief began with disbelief as they struggled to come to terms with losing a cherished father, mentor and public servant.

"One year ago, we stood before the nation in disbelief, struggling to find a way to say goodbye to our beloved son and father,'' he said.

He recalled how the family celebrated his remarkable life and remembered him as a loving husband, father, brother, mentor and a man whose presence inspired those around him.

According to him, the past year has been a difficult journey as the family has learned to live without him.

"Today, those words carry an even deeper meaning because for an entire year, we have had to learn what life looks like without him. The past year has changed us in ways we never imagined," he said.

Mr Muniu's son said there have been many moments when the family wished they could hear his voice again, seek his advice on important decisions or simply spend time with him.

He described missing his wisdom, reassurance and the love that kept the family together, but added that even in his absence, his legacy continues to provide direction.

He said Alhaji Muhammad was not only a pillar of strength to the family but also a dedicated public servant and trusted colleague who served Ghana with compassion, humility and a strong sense of duty.

"His life taught us that leadership is not measured by position but by service to others. He taught us that true strength is found in kindness, that leadership begins with listening, and that integrity is life's greatest treasure," he said.

Alhaji's son said those lessons remain a guiding principle for the family as they continue to honour his memory.

He noted that one of the greatest comforts the family has found over the past year is hearing stories from people across the country about his kindness, generosity and compassion.

"Through the way he lived, he gave us a family that extends far beyond our own," he said.

According to him, although the family lost a beloved member, Ghana also lost a remarkable servant whose contributions and character will continue to be remembered.

He expressed appreciation to the President, the Government of Ghana, friends, extended family members and all Ghanaians who supported them throughout their period of grief.

"Your prayers, your kindness, and your unwavering support have carried us through our darkest days," he said.

"Daddy, until we meet again, may you continue to rest in perfect peace."
