One person has been confirmed dead and six others hospitalised in Kpando in the Volta Region after consuming the highly poisonous puffer fish.
This will not be the first time the consumption of the poisonous fish has claimed a life in the municipality.
Four people died last year after consuming the same fish.
The Municipal Chief Executive for Kpando, Elvis Gyampo, confirmed the incident to Joy News Friday morning.
He said the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) brought news about the deaths and prompted an immediate public education drive.
A community-wide education campaign has begun in earnest to prevent further deaths.
