Four major political parties have expressed satisfaction with the ongoing biometric voter’s registration exercise being undertaken by the Electoral Commission.
Representatives of the New Patriotic Party, National Democratic Congress, Progressive People’s Party and the Convention People’s Party told Multi TV’s Joy News TV although it is a little too early, they are so far impressed with the state of affairs as regards the ongoing exercise except for pockets of issues which have been reported to their respective offices.
The acting Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, James Asante said the party was pleased the exercise has been largely incident free considering the fact that it is the first of its kind.
He was however hopeful the few challenges being recorded at the various centers, will be addressed by the Electoral Commission as soon as possible.
The NPP’s Deputy Communications Director, Sammy Awuku was however unhappy over some developments in the Ashanti Region, citing alleged shooting as a plot by some people to disrupt the exercise.
He hoped the Electoral Commission would take the necessary steps to ensure that peace prevails at the centers over the remaining days.
A member of the Communications Team of the Progressive People’s Party, Richmond Lamptey said they had anticipated the shortfalls being experienced during the exercise mainly because it was a novelty. He however added that the exercise is going well.
At the CPP headquarters, the party’s Communication Director, Nii Armah Akomfra commended the electoral commission for work done so far with the biometric registration.
The various party representatives however urged eligible voters to take advantage of the forty-day period to register.
