Chief Executive of the Chamber of Mines has confirmed plans by more mining firms to list on the Ghana Stock Exchange in the next five years.
Proposals for mining firms to list on the local bourse have yet to be realized due to some challenges.
But it now appears mining firms have now bought into the idea.
Chief Executive of the Chamber Tony Aubeng however told Joy Business some of the firms still have some concerns.
“You can see that the two mining firms that have listed on the local bourse haven’t done that well as we expected,” he added.
Only Golden Star Resources and AngloGold Ashanti are listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange out of about 30 mining firms operating in the country.
In another development, the Vice President of mining firm Golden Star Resources Daniel Owuredu has been promoted to Senior Vice President.
This means that Mr. Owuredu now has the authority to take decision in Ghana without going to his bosses in Denver USA where the company’s headquarters is located.
