Members of the renowned Ghanaian band, Boombaya, have arrived in Ghana from various parts of the world ahead of the 2018 Pop Chain All-Star Concert.
The three who are in Ghana for the concert include Alfred Kari Bannerman – Lead Guitarist, George Mensah Bonsu – Bassist, and Eric Kofi Adu – Drummer.
Other members of the band include Ben Tefler – Flute, and Enos Kofi Adu – Keyboardist.
Leader of the band, Alfred Kari Bannerman, used to play with the famous Osibisa band as a guitarist.
Boombaya band will begin rehearsal for the concert slated for September 29 at the +233 Jazz Bar and Grill in Accra.
Members of the group promise an exciting time at this year’s event while supporting the Joy FM Sugar Project.
The concert has carved a niche for itself as the most important platform where bands from the Pop Chain era – the ‘60s, ‘70s and even ‘80s - come together to perform for a worthy cause.
The Joy FM ‘Pop Chain All-Star Concert’ raises funds to support Joy FM’s Sugar Project, which is a Diabetes Awareness and Screening Initiative.
Last year’s event featured music giants such as Bessa Simons and Ben Brako.
Old school bands from Mfantsipim, St Augustine’s College and Achomota School rocked the night as well.
