Tema International School turns 15 years this week and to celebrate the milestone, the school is hosting a week of events to reflect on the last decade and a half.
While marking the successes chalked over the years, the school will be thinking about the next 15 years of education.
“What will school education be like in 2033? This is the question TIS stakeholders will be asking themselves as they celebrate the milestone.
TIS was founded in October 2003 by Mr. & Mrs Alphonse Ayite Adjavon with a vision of creating a world-class, international-minded, service-oriented institution that would train ethical citizens that Ghana requires to progress.
Students who come to the boarding school go through the IGSCE, Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme before going on to tertiary institutions in Ghana and beyond.
As part of the celebrations, TIS will be hosting a series of events.
The events kicked off last month with a Health Walk on September 8, to raise awareness about Hepatitis B, a project initiated by DP CAS students.
Last Wednesday 26 September, a special Anniversary Assembly, themed the ‘Beginning’ attracted former and current staff, Alumni, students, parents and friends who shared their memories and advice to an audience.
On 1st October TIS hosted an Educational Forum and has invited educational leaders from all over the country, Geneva and Kenya to discuss the future of education.
From topics on innovations in teaching and learning to new thoughts around assessment strategies, they will go to the heart of what makes a strong educational experience and how to reach as many students as possible.
3 October – Founders’ Day: Students and staff will celebrate and reflect on international mindedness.
5 October - Teachers’ Day: There will be a special appreciation of teachers.
6 October – The highlight of the celebrations: The day will feature a Grand Durbar.
7 October: Thanksgiving Service
On November 23, the curtains close on the celebrations with the Adaptation of Beauty and the Beast at the National Theatre.
Former and current staff, Alumni, past and current parents, students and friends of the school have been invited.
