Security analyst Adam Bona has expressed concerns regarding what he describes as sudden promotions at the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), orchestrated by the Executive Director of the anti-graft agency, Maame Tiwaa Addo Danquah, following the defeat of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the recent elections.
According to Mr Bona, the Executive Director has, in recent days, appointed a new Director of Investigations to oversee the agency’s operations.
“As we speak, are you aware that promotions are currently ongoing at EOCO? How can you, as the outgoing EOCO boss, Maame Tiwaa, appoint a Director of Investigations just before leaving office? This could lead to a situation where, if the new government initiates any investigations under your tenure, your appointee would oversee the process,” Mr Bona said during an interview on Good Morning Ghanaon Metro TV.

“You cannot approbate and reprobate. These actions undermine good governance, and they must be addressed by the Mahama administration,” he added.
Mr Bona also urged President Mahama to take decisive action against ASP Jalil, who allegedly assaulted a police officer at the Jubilee House in 2017, during the early days of the NPP administration.
“I expect the Mahama government to deal with individuals who engaged in acts of lawlessness and assaulted others at the Jubilee House. For instance, ASP Jalil accosted a police officer, DSP Nanka Bruce, at the Jubilee House and beat him mercilessly.”
“He even followed him to his home and assaulted him again. This occurred under the so-called human rights activist president, yet no punitive action was taken. ASP Jalil remains in uniform, and this impunity must end,” Mr Bona stated.
