UK-based structural consultant with a specialty in designing I.T infrastructure is urging Ghanaians to embrace technology and all it has to offer in order not to be found wanting.
During his presentation on the MOBA Annual Engagement Series on September 30, Felix Akuoku disclosed that the Covid-19 pandemic exposed many ineficiencies over the inadequacy of information technology systems.
The situation, according to him, provided the opportunity for millennials to rise to the occasion and innovate their way through the world of work.
The I.T consultant described the adaptation of work-from-home programmes as a step in the right direction.
According to him, the pandemic has highlighted the relevance of I.T to be an asset.
“Two/Three years ago, managers and even colleagues felt that when you work from home you were skiving, playing around or messing around," he said on JoyNews.
Addressing the subject of the future of work in a digital world, he described the pace as fast and rapid, one we should not wait to hit us unawares since there are opportunities in adapting to I.T.
“It is only a matter of time and I feel that we need to place ourselves in a place so when it comes we are not climbing a steep learning curve,” he said.
Mr Akuoku stressed that for the country to be ready there must be a radical change in the educational delivery system as it remains unclear if the noverl coronavirus will ever come to an end.
“Education is where it starts we need to radically make changes in the delivery methods of education, lecturers, teachers and whatnot are required to update their knowledge and practical skills to align themselves with current digital trends and a commitment from students to lifelong learning to upscale," he said.
Felix Akuoku explained that entrepreneurship is changing globally across sectors such as e-commerce, banking, education among others.
He applauded companies that have re-organised their workplaces and allowed employees to work from home to reduce the number of employees present in the workplace.
“I know companies who have reconfigured their offices and have actually said to their employees that you're not coming back to the office, we are not putting full people into the offices and at this point, there will be more remote working."
This, he said, is accelerating more businesses and has increased adaptation to digital evolution.
