Youth Leaders across the continent have met to discuss and propose workable solutions to attain the African Union (AU) 2063 Agenda at the 11th African Youth and Governance Convergence.
The event which is being held in Ghana is to critically assess AU’s Agenda 2063 under the theme “Mobilizing Africa's Youth to Build a Continent Beyond Aid"
Some 140 youth (120 delegates and 20 Committee Chair-Persons) from 32 African countries and Diaspora (Canada, USA, Europe) are proposing a resolution document which includes a call on African governments to make education affordable by allocating enough funding to increase accessibility for the rural girl-child; that there must be restructuring of syllabus and curriculum to be relevant for the labor market.

They also called for the establishment of an African Youth Bank that are easily accessible and affordable for the African Youth Entrepreneur and calling for the promotion and funding of cultural exchange programmes between Africa and diaspora youth similar to Ghana’s Year of Return.
Youth delegates have been placed in one of the ten Standing Committees based on the areas of expertise and preference, and each Committee was tasked with the responsibility of finding realistic and practical solutions to the specific issues on the continent.
These proposed solutions come in the form of Committee Resolutions presented to all delegates at the General Assembly debate session; the platform for delegates to propose and defend their draft resolutions, even as delegates from other committees assessed and critiqued.
Speaking to Joynews, the Executive Director for Youth Bridge Foundation Seth Otting was confident that all the resolutions are workable and will be submitted the United Nations and African Union.
