Ex- Black Stars striker Augustine Arhinful says Asamoah Gyan has chosen right to return to the team at this time after taking time off following a disappointing Cup of Nations campaign in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea, last February.
Asamoah Gyan quit the Black Stars temporarily to focus on club football matters at his UAE club Al Ain but reports suggested the decision was meant to deal with the pressure of failing to inspire Ghana to a Nations Cup title as expected.
He announced on Wednesday that he has rescinded his decision and is expected to be called for the Stars' next game in September.
“I think Gyan’s return is great to all Ghanaians because his absence for some time in the team was felt”.
“We need him because he is our top striker and his experience will help the Black Stars in their subsequent matches”.
The Black Stars will host Malawi in the first leg of the African qualifiers between the weekend of September 7-9.
