NOEL DECONINCK, General Manager of Aviation Handling Services (AHS), has noted that his company is currently building safety systems in the country’s aviation industry to meet internationally-accepted standards.
The company, which officially started business in Ghana in January 2006, after winning an open tender, is building equipment for technical assistance to ensure safety of aircraft.
Disclosing this to journalists in Accra on Sunday, Mr Deconinck said AHS Ghana, an affiliate of AHS Menzies Aviation, is developing assistance for business class with an efficient ticketing system.
He has therefore appealed to Government to liberate the system to help AHS expand to ensure fair competition.AHS Menzies is one of the largest ground handling companies in the world, with its headquarters in Scotland.
The company, whose network covers 107 airports in 26 countries on the five continents, handles over 300,000 flight turns and serves 50,000 million passengers.
AHS Menzies as well undertakes ticketing, check-in load control, luggage transfer and aircraft pushback among others.
Three years after the commencement of its expansion in Africa, the company has established its presence in Niger, Senegal, Equitorial Guinea and Benin.
AHS Ghana’s take-over from Ghana Aviation Handling Company Limited (GAHCO) is valid for a 7-year renewable period.
