Imajin Advertising, organisers of the Legacy and Legacy Ball (LAL) have said all set for the second edition of the event which is gradually carving a niche for itself as a show never to be missed. The LAL Ball, which started last year, is an event which seeks to celebrate the achievements and legacies of living music legends. It celebrated hi-life great, Daddy Lumba at its maiden edition on November 12, 2011. This year, Daniel Amakye Dede, also known as Amakye Dede, takes the spotlight to be celebrated on a night that will see supporting artistes challenge him to his own songs. If last year’s groundbreaking event, which saw former first lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings and former President Kufuor share the dancing stage, is anything to go by, patrons are in for a spectacular event this year, organisers have promised. “The LAL Ball has come to stay and promises to be an even more exciting and life changing experience for the legend and for patrons of the event,” Kojo Rana, Events Manager at Imajin Advertising told Myjoyonline.com. Amakye Dede, aka Abrantie, is an evergreen hi-life musician whose excellence seems never to fade away will take the stage at the Accra International Conference Centre on September 15 to do what he does best and that is to entertain. Music acts, Samini, Becca, Okyeame Kwame, Eazzy, Kwabena Kwabena, Daasebre Gwamena, sexaphonist, Steve Bedi and Ivorian music star, Freddy Meiway will seek to unseat the Seeerious Amakye Dede in his territory on the night. The Iron Boy began his illustrious career in 1973 when he joined the Kumapim Royals as a composer and vocalist. The band, which was led by Akwasi Ampofo Agyei (AAA), was known for several hits including, Abebi Bewua Eso, Wanware Me A, and Odo Mani Agyina. Amakye Dede moved to Nigeria after a spell with the Kumapim Royals and released the smash hit, Jealousy Go Shame. He subsequently formed his own band, the Apollo High Kings, in 1980 which dominated the highlife scene in the 1980s and 1990s. With 20 albums to his credit, Amakye Dede is still one of the country’s show stoppers who never fails to deliver when ever he is called upon. Kojo Rana added that, aside the fun the show holds, the LAL Ball will be used “to stir up the passion of the young and upcoming musicians to work hard to attain the success that the legends have attained and also to afford upcoming artistes the opportunity to showcase their unique talents on the night.” Amakye Dede will be presented with a gold medal, a plaque and other awards in recognition of his hard work, success and contribution to the entertainment industry. The Events Manager disclosed that in their bid to give patrons an exciting experience, they have for the first time in Ghana, introduced tickets for the concert that has Amakye Dede’s voice and songs imbedded in them. The tickets, he said, play Amakye Dede’s songs and also his voice urging patrons to attend the concert.
