The Director of Communications of the Ghana Football Association, Mr Ibrahim Saanie Daara has confirmed the imminent appearance of Arsenal Star Emmanuel Frimpong in a Ghana Shirt.
The player who has stated his desire to play for the Stars on numerous occasions has failed to see his dream materialize as a result of documentation needed by FIFA.
According to Daara, FIFA has requested documentation from the English, Welsh, Scottish and Northern Irish Federations to ascertain whether the Arsenal star ever featured for them to make him eligible to play for Ghana.
“We wrote to FIFA to ascertain the true status of the player to be sure if he could feature for Ghana. Interestingly, FIFA directed the GFA to the federations of England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland to know whether he ever featured for them”.
“Hopefully, we would get past this development and get him to play for Ghana pretty shortly.”
The English and Scottish Federations have submitted documentation to that effect to FIFA with the two other federations failing to do so at the moment though documentation made available to the FA by the player clearly indicate that he has only ever featured for the Junior teams of England.
The player has joined his colleagues at Arsenal to prepare for season 2012/13 as he seeks to get regular playing at the Emirates Stadium.
