With just 48 hours to the Royal Wedding between Prince Williams and Catherine Elizabeth Middleton, the Manhyia Palace is yet to receive official invitation to the much-hyped wedding on Friday.
In an apparent snub, Asantehene Osei Tutu II will not join the 1,900-strong specially invited congregation at Westminster Abbey when Prince William marries Kate Middleton.
The list of prominent guests officially released includes more than 200 politicians and diplomats.
More than 40 members from foreign royal families will be present, as will 60 governors general and overseas prime ministers, and celebrities including David Cameron as well as David and Victoria Beckham.
But the Spokesperson of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Mr. George Nana Osei Antwi revealed that the Manhyia Palace has not received any invitation from the Queen of England, as guest to the Royal Wedding.
“Otumfuo Osei Tutu returned from London Tuesday evening but if he had been invited, he wouldn’t have travelled back to the country”, he added.
The absence of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II means that King Mswati III of Swaziland with 13 wives will be the only African Royal invited to Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding.
However, it could be recalled that the Asantehene was officially invited by Queen Elizabeth II of Britain to the Buckingham Palace in 2000.
He headed a 20-man delegation of chiefs, linguists, and Manhyia palace officials in a three-week visit to the United Kingdom during which he launched the Asanteman Education Fund.
Counting the list of Royal invited, Queen Elizabeth II surprisingly invited royal dictators of Bahrain, Swaziland and Saudi Arabia, who are accused of committing severe human rights violations against their peoples.
Missing in the list of invited guests includes US President Barack Obama, Former British Prime Minister Tony Blaire and his successor Gordon Brown.
