Police in the Eastern Region in dramatic circumstances are processing for court a 22 year old man who was alleged to have been assaulted by three police officers.
The police say it was rather Samson Aryittey who assaulted one of the police officers and will be prosecuted.
Aryittey, in critical condition, was transferred to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital from the Presbyterian Hospital in Donkorkrom after sustaining severe injuries from the assault.
Manager of the Presbyterian Hospital in Donkorkrom, Kwaku Fianko-Gyan earlier reported that the boy was feverish, had blood oozing from his nose and ears suggesting he could have been assaulted.
He was allegedly assaulted by the officers for riding a commercial motor bike.
But the police claim Samson Aryittey rather assaulted a police officer.
It is not clear yet the medical condition of the 22 year old but the Deputy Regional Police Commander ACP James Azumah Abass told Joy News the man is being processed for court.
He insisted that investigations they have carried out indicate that it was Aryittey who assaulted one of the police officers.
He challenged all those with contrary information to make it available.
The police are also contemplating a possible prosecution of the father of the victim who publicised the alleged assault of his son.
ACP James Azumah Abass said Charles Biney should provide names of the police officers who assaulted his son or he would be joined in the prosecution of his son.
