The highly anticipated ASSETS Trade Mission to South Africa was officially launched during the ASSETS 2025 Summit in Accra.
The launch was led by the National Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Coordinator, Benjamin Kwaku Asiam, together with Sylvia Owu, Deputy CEO of the Ghana Shippers Authority; Ziad Hamoui, President of Borderless Alliance and Sophia Kudjordji, Chief Corporate Communications Officer of the Jospong Group of Companies.
The mission, scheduled for November 29th to December 6th, 2025, will cover two major South African cities—Johannesburg and Cape Town. It is designed to provide Ghanaian and African SMEs, startups, and trade institutions with unparalleled opportunities to engage with the South African market, build investor networks, and strengthen intra-African trade under the AfCFTA framework.
Key partners supporting the mission include the Gauteng Growth and Development Agency (GGDA), the official economic development agency of Gauteng Province; WESGRO, the official trade and investment promotion agency for the Western Cape; the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA), a leading think tank on international relations and policy in Africa and the South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SACCI), one of the most influential private-sector advocacy bodies in South Africa.
Speaking at the launch, Peter Adetor, Team Lead of ASSETS, emphasised: “This trade mission is more than a trip; it is a bridge. It represents our commitment to ensuring African SMEs and entrepreneurs are not left behind in the global trade conversation. By connecting Ghanaian businesses with South Africa’s thriving economic hubs, we are laying the foundation for stronger collaborations that will accelerate Africa’s collective growth and competitiveness.”
The mission will feature high-level engagements with government departments, chambers of commerce, trade agencies, and private sector leaders. Delegates will also take part in technical site visits, networking sessions, and investment forums curated by the partner agencies.
