Former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has paid heartfelt tribute to Apostle Kwadwo Safo, founder of the Kristo Asafo Church and the Kantanka Group of Companies, who passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the age of 77.
In a statement shared on his Facebook page on Sunday, September 14, Dr Bawumia, who is seeking to lead the NPP into the next election, described Apostle Safo as not only a man of God but also a pioneer of indigenous technology, a philanthropist, and a patriot whose contributions to Ghana’s development remain unmatched.
“I have received with deep sadness the news of the passing of Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, a pioneering Ghanaian innovator, and the founder and leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission,” Dr Bawumia wrote, noting that the late leader’s dedication to industrial growth and charity had touched countless lives.
He recalled his personal encounters with the man widely known as the “Star of Africa,” stating, “As a religious leader, his open arms received me. Anytime I called on him, I departed his presence with lasting words of encouragement and wisdom.”
Dr Bawumia extended his condolences to the bereaved family, the Kristo Asafo Mission, and all Ghanaians, adding that Apostle Safo’s legacy would inspire generations to embrace local solutions, serve their communities, and put Ghana first.
