The Right Reverend Daniel Yinkah-Sarfo, the Anglican Bishop of Kumasi, has appealed to Christians to re-affirm their faith and give life to others irrespective of their tribe, age or social status.
Addressing the congregation at a Good Friday service at the Saint Cyprian Anglican Cathedral in Kumasi, he said "we heard of Jesus' suffering and plead of insanity on behalf of his attackers" when he was nailed to the cross.
"We heard him utter a cry of abandonment and dereliction, groan of submission to God and above all we have been surprised at his offer of a new way of graciousness in dealing with ones worst enemies", he said.
All these, Rt Rev Yinkah-Safo said, added up to a new order of doing things in one's life in the world.
"This new order says that true power is located in suffering and self-giving rather than in wielding force and self-assertion."
He said for this reason it behoved on Christians to pursue the religion of God's freedom, the economics of sharing and the politics of justice in their life.
The Bishop appealed to the congregation to go home and share, inform and transform people by the Good Friday experience challenging them to ask themselves what was expected from them in these stern days.
