Black Stars goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has committed his future to Accra Hearts of Oak after signing a two-year contract extension, keeping him at the club until 2027.
The deal, signed after fruitful discussions with the club’s board, comes at a time when Asare is enjoying a standout season for both club and country.
He joined Hearts of Oak from Great Olympics last season and has since emerged as a key figure—captaining the side and solidifying his place as Ghana’s number one goalkeeper.
"The Board and Management of Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club PLC are happy to announce that Black Stars goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has extended his contract with Ghana's biggest club,” the club stated in an official release.
Asare’s impressive form—13 clean sheets in 20 Ghana Premier League matches and back-to-back clean sheets on his Black Stars debut against Chad and Madagascar—sparked interest from North African clubs Raja Casablanca and CR Belouizdad.
But the 32-year-old remains loyal to the Phobians, choosing continuity over foreign temptation.
Executive Board Chairman, Togbe Afede XIV, praised Asare’s professionalism and leadership qualities, commending his impact on and off the pitch. He urged other players to emulate his dedication and commitment to success.
Asare, visibly delighted, expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him by the club.
“I feel really excited to have been given the opportunity to play for one of the biggest clubs in world football. Hearts of Oak has lifted my image and the only way to repay the confidence they have shown in me is to extend my contract, play my heart out for the team, and work for success,” he said.
With his future secured, Asare now sets his sights on leading Hearts to greater heights domestically and making a mark in continental competitions.
