Head coach of the Black Queens, Kim Lars Bjorkegren, believes his side is confident of claiming the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title this year.
Ghana will compete in the tournament for the first time since 2018 when they were host nation having failed to qualify after that.
The Queens secured qualification to the tournament to be staged in Morocco after beating Namibia in the final round of qualifiers.
Bjorkegren, who replaced Nora Hauptle at the start of the year, is optimistic the team can claim the trophy upon their return.
“For me, it is simple to win the gold medal. You need to take it step by step and I know we are not going to be a favorite for people outside of Ghana,” he told 3Sports.
“There are some five nations who have a bigger chance to win it. We need to qualify from the group stage. From there, it’s three games and I know we can do it.”
Ghana is in Group C alongside defending champions South Africa, Tanzania, and Mali.
