Sulley Muntari has earned high praise from Sunderland boss Steve Bruce after his debut for the club last Saturday.
Bruce threw Sulley into the mix for the trip to Stoke after completing his six month loan move from European champions Inter Milan and the midfielder responded with a fine display at the heart of the Sunderland midfield, setting up Asamoah Gyan's goal that gave Sunderland the lead.
But he was withdrawn after 88 minutes visibly tired even though the boss had seen enough then to be convinced about how good he was for the day.
Bruce told the club's website: "I thought Muntari was terrific for long periods of the game, but he did get tired as you can imagine.
"I thought he had a fantastic debut and he looks like he's going to be a very good player for us."
