The Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football has decided to award the Order of Merit - Gold, posthumously, to Mr. Slim Aloulou. Mr. Aloulou was at the time of his death on 14th January 2015 a co-opted member of the CAF Executive Committee.
He was a former member of the Executive Committee of FIFA and former president of the Tunisian Football Federation.
"He was a long-time companion. He joined the Executive Committee in the year of my election to the presidency. He was an affable man, discreet, rigorous, jovial and whose judgments were imbued with great wisdom.
His legal advice was always relevant and it was very logical that we relied on him for advice. We lost a tireless worker who in no time contributed to the transformation of the statutes of CAF but above all I lost a great friend," CAF President Issa Hayatou said in the immediate aftermath of the announcement of Slim Aloulou's death.
The Gold Order of Merit will be presented to Aloulou's widow, Mrs. Zainab Aloulou on Tuesday 7 April, 2015 in Cairo, Egypt during the 37th Ordinary General Assembly of CAF in the presence of the Chairperson of the Commission the African Union, Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma and FIFA President Joseph Sepp Blatter.
