Bechem United seized a crucial opportunity to strengthen their Ghana Premier League survival hopes with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over defending champions Bibiani GoldStars at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park on Sunday in a match-week 18 fixture.
Augustine Okrah’s first-half strike proved decisive, rewarding a disciplined and tactically mature display from the Hunters, who executed their game plan with conviction.
The hosts’ positive approach paid off in the 15th minute when Okrah produced a clinical finish to cap a well-worked attacking move and send the home supporters into celebration.
Bechem’s rhythm was briefly interrupted when Emmanuel Sefah was forced off through injury midway through the half, prompting an early reshuffle that saw Foster Sakitey introduced.
The second half produced little change in the pattern of play as Bechem held firm to secure a 1–0 victory, their fourth win in five matches lifting them to 11th place on the table with 22 points.
GoldStars remain second despite the defeat and will next host Asante Kotoko, while Bechem travel to face Basake Holy Stars next weekend.
