Walid Soliman scored a couple of superlative goals to secure an emphatic 4-1 win for Ahli over Ghanaian club Berekum Chelsea in the CAF Champions League on Saturday.
The victory – inspired by some breathtaking goals – put the six-time champions a step closer to the knockouts as they maintain a perfect record of three wins out of three.
Abdullah Al-Saied opened the scoring with a magnificent shot as defender Mohamed Naguib made it with a header before Emmanuel Clottey pulled one back from the spot for Chelsea.
But with both teams down to ten men, Soliman stunned the visitors with a strike that will be remembered for long before ensuring the victory with another sublime team goal.
Super Soliman
It started with a wonderful team move that was finished off by a long-range effort from Al-Saied in the 17th minute.
Center-half Naguib then claimed his first continental goal when he headed home Mohamed Barakat’s corner to double the lead.
But Chelsea’s goal ace Clottey won a penalty and dusted himself off to convert with power past Sherif Ekrami, who was the one who brought the Ghana striker down.
While Chelsea had Richard Boateng sent off before the break, Ahli’s Wael Gomaa followed him out after the hour mark, a few minutes before Soliman brought the house down with a wonder solo goal.
Minutes later, Soliman struck again, this time ramming home the ball home after a series of quick passes involving Hossam Ghaly and Mohamed Barakat.
