Mr. Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah, a lecturer at Central University has paid the fees of a student at Kasoa in the Central Region who could not enroll at the Mfantsiman Senior School due to financial difficulties.
When the BECE results were released by WAEC on September 6, 2015, a lot of parents and guardians began to prepare feverishly towards securing a place for their wards.
Some of the students had their results cancelled as usual, whiles others were faultless to have received theirs without delay. It is an annual ritual that some brilliant students are unable to go to senior high school primarily due to lack of finance.
On the October 24, 2015, Mr. Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah, the lecturer was informed of a particular student at Kasoa in the Central Region who could not enrol at the Mfantsiman Senior School due to financial difficulties.
Without hesitation, the lecturer consequently invited the student to Central University, Mataheko campus, where he gave out some money to support her.
His students also willingly joined the contribution to raise money for the brilliant girl, Faith Attipoe, to go to school.
According to the lecturer, with the help of friends and his students at the Central University, enough money has been raised to enable the girl start school this month.
However, Mr. Otchere-Ankrah is calling on philanthropists to assist him cater for the girl throughout her senior high school and even at the tertiary level.
He appeals that wealthy people should help the needy in society especially ‘the girl child’.
He quotes Chinua Achebe to buttress his zeal, "when we are comfortable and inattentive, we run the risk of committing grave injustices absent mindedly.”
The student, Faith Attipoe, wants to become a medical doctor in future.
