President of the Ghana Armwrestling Federation and Africa Armwrestling, Mr Charles Osei Asibey, has been re-elected Vice President of the World Armwrestling Federation (WAF) at its 47th Congress in Albena, Bulgaria. His renewed mandate will run until 2029.
The congress unanimously endorsed Mr Osei Asibey’s nomination, recognising his exceptional leadership, tireless dedication, and growing global influence in the sport.

“I am giddy, elated, and poised to further influence the development and promotion of armwrestling to new heights, leveraging my network to drive growth, innovation, and excellence in the sport,” Mr Osei Asibey said after his re-election.
His journey to international prominence has been marked by perseverance and vision. In 2022, he was elected President of Africa Armwrestling and joined the World Armwrestling board, roles through which he has helped secure armwrestling’s inclusion in the African Games and driven its expansion across the continent.

As Vice President of WAF, he will continue working with the President and other executives to promote the sport globally, with a focus on boosting participation, improving competition standards, and driving innovation.
Mr Osei Asibey’s re-election positions Ghana as a key player in the international armwrestling community and underscores the country’s rising influence in global sport.
