The Prince of New Sasabi near Oyibi, Benjamin Mensah Larteh, is alleged to have slashed the shoulder of a University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) staff member.
Atsu Kudohor's left arm was left hanging after the incident and is currently on admission at the Legon Hospital after undergoing a 7-hour surgery on his arm.
The incident which occurred on July 19, 2020, is said to have ensued during an argument over some missing goats belonging to the victim.
Mr Larteh is believed to have hacked the left shoulder of Mr Kudohor over an argument following the disappearance of the goats.
Narrating the incident, the victim’s uncle Raymond Kofi Budu said, Mr Kudohor who rears goats, went to the Chief's house to report his missing goats.
Upon reaching the Chief’s house he met the prince, and after enquiring of his mission, an altercation resulted.
Mr Larteh is believed to have shadowed the Atsu on his way back home and charged at him with a machete, hacking him indiscriminately.
The prince only took to his heels after the victim cried out for help.
Mr Kudohor was subsequently rushed to the Dodowa Hospital but was later referred to the Legon Hospital due to the severity of the injuries.
The incident was then reported to the Oyibi Police who Mr. Budu believes, are unwilling to arrest the suspect.
It is alleged that the prince has several other similar cases reported against him.
“The Chief and the CID both came to visit my nephew at the hospital but the CID has refused to issue an arrest warrant for the boy, neither has she even asked the father to produce the boy.
"She told us to arrest the boy and bring him to the station when we see him. We therefore, asked for an arrest permit but she again refused to issue us with one,” Mr Kudohor's uncle lamented.
According to Mr Budu, the police have since refused to answer his calls and believes that they are reluctant to do so “for fear of offending” the Oyibi chief.
All his attempts by the victim's uncle to reach the chief or any family member of the prince have also proved futile.
