Residents of Sampa and other communities in the Brong Ahafo Region are skeptical about the capacity of Jaman North District Assembly to get a new nursing school ready for admission this year.
Prospective students have already gone through interview, but construction of lecture halls and other facilities are yet to be completed for take-off in September.
Construction of the structure began in 2012 but work came to standstill for months due to unknown reasons until it resumed in 2013.
In spite of the delay in the construction, there was an agreement to open admission to prospects students.
According to the District Chief Executive, Nti Ateware Daniel, tertiary education was paramount to the people of Sampa and that prompted them to push for the construction.
“We have finished with the interview of the students and soon admission would be sent to the prospective students,” he stated.
The establishment of the school at Sampa comes as joy to many residents, but they are unhappy about the whole process. They wanted authorities to have held on with admission until work is properly completed.
The DCE however believes enough has been done by the contractor for academic work to begin pending completion of the rest of the work.
“The contractor will finish on time for the school to come off,” he said.
Until that is done, interest groups will continue to have cause for worry.
