The Convention People’s Party (CPP) Programme of Regional Conferences moved this weekend to the Northern Region where its Northern Regional Conference was held at the Tamale Sports Stadium, to elect a Regional Executive.
The CPP Programme which began in the Upper West Region on Friday 17th April 2015 would ultimately take the Party to its National Delegates Congress to elect National Leaders and preparation towards the 2016 General Elections
The event was attended by National officers of the Party lead by the National Chairman and Leader Hon Samia Yaba Nkrumah together with the General Secretary of the Party Ivor Kobina Greenstreet, National Women’s Organiser Hajia Hamdatu H. Ibrahim, the Party’s 2012 Presidential Candidate Dr Abu Sakara and former National Chairman Dr Edmund Delle.
Also in attendance were Lawyer Bright Akwetey, Former Presidential aspirant and the CPP’s Shadow Attorney General; Elyasu Yussif Baba, CPP Upper West Regional Chairman and a delegation of his Regional Executives.
Mr Appiah Amankwah, Chairman of the CPP’s National Organising Committee, Mr Koo Mensah Frempong, Greater Accra Regional Organiser and other Regional Executives from the Upper East Region, Ashanti Region, Volta and other Regions.
The Conference elected a new Regional Executive to steer the affairs of the Region thus:
Chairman – Alhaji Abdulai Issah Zorro
1st Vice – Alidu Egalah
2nd Vice – Alhaji Mohammed Mankana
Treasurer – Sabratu Mahama
Secretary – Mohamed Bia Nuhu Jingli
Education Secretary – Nayi Adam Alhassan
Organiser – Hamza Seidu
Women’s Organiser – Abiba Sayibu
Youth Organiser – Mohamed Hafiz
The new Executive were encouraged to continue with strengthening Cell branches in every corner of the region and to make the party more visible and attractive in the Region.
In a rallying message to the Conference Hon Samia Nkrumah told delegates that the CPP was formed for people and that it is the party standing up for Ghanaians on many issues that concern them, that the Party is going to Court to safeguard the sovereignty and food security of Ghana’s food chain, that the CPP was the only alternative to the policies of structural adjustment and austerity being offered by the NPP and NDC
The CPP Brong Ahafo Regional Conference is next on the Programme list, scheduled for later this month to be followed by the CPP Ashanti, Upper East, Central, Western, Eastern, Greater Accra and Volta Regional Conferences.
