The annual Kenkey for the Needy (#KenkeyForTheNeedy) event will be held on Saturday, 30th July, 2016 at the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park.
The event organised by Tatas and Friends brings together people from all walks of life to buy and share a meal of Kenkey to raise funds to support the needy and other social projects across the country.
This year's program is aimed at raising funds to support two public schools with furniture, good roofing and other needed projects as well as educational materials.
Being the 2nd edition, the event will see the auctioning of plates of Kenkey, a Ghanaian delicacy and its various tasty assorted condiments, to raise funds to support the objective of this year’s major donation. This is part of activities to commemorate the 3rd anniversary of the Tatas and Friends Foundation (TFF).
“Last year you joined us in celebrating at the children’s park by patronizing our most talked about event, KenkeyForTheNeedy. Thanks to you, we were able to exceed our target of GHC10,000 which we used for the rehabilitation of Gbeogo School for the deaf in Bolgatanga. We appreciate you all, because there is no Tatas and Friends Foundation without your support” said Caritas Aryee the CEO/ Founder.
She further admonished fellow Ghanaians that “as citizens we need to do our best to reach out to society as government cannot do it all alone”.
This year’s event promises to be bigger and better with many side attractions and some Ghanaian celebrities passing through. Starting from 10:00am to 6:00pm, participants will enjoy music, various acts, fun activities as well as networking opportunities while enjoying their favourite Kenkey meal. Dubbed the #KenkeyForTheNeedyReloaded, the Tatas and Friends Foundation hopes to establish the event as a lasting yearly activity to help support many subsequent projects.
Birthed on July 29, 2013, TFF is a group of youngsters coming together to raise funds to support needy children in school, the visually impaired, disabled and many more.
