President John Dramani Mahama has disclosed that education will continue to be the priority of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.
In pursuance of that, he said government will continue to spend a chunk of its budgetary allocation on school infrastructure to make students of all educational levels comfortable.
President Mahama announced this when he addressed the chiefs and people of Enchi, as part of his three- day official visit to the Western Region.
During his stay in the region, the President will cut sod for commencement of new development projects, inaugurate completed ones and inspect the progress of on- going projects.
President Mahama hinted that the people of Enchi and its surrounding areas will receive their share of the development projects in due course, advising them to offer the necessary support to the government to implement its policies.
On the mass cocoa spraying exercise, the President said government was repackaging the exercise to eliminate all malpractices that nearly marred the smooth progress of the exercise.
He also promised that government would work effectively to pay bonuses due the cocoa farmers to encourage them to work hard and increase yield in the country.
The President mentioned that government will also work on the Enchi town roads after settling the compensation package of people who would be re- settled as a result of the expansion.
Nana Ndoli Panyin II, chief of the area appealed to the President to expand electricity and water projects in the area to enable the indigenes to engage in income generation activities.
He also appealed to government to provide them with an additional secondary school to absorb the numerous Junior High Students that are churned out every year.
