Petitioners in the ongoing election petition hearing at the Supreme Court have requested that proceedings start at 11:20 am on Thursday instead of the usual 9.30 am.
In a letter to the Chief Justice, Tony Lithur, a member of the counsel for the petitioner, John Mahama, explained that it is to enable Tsatsu Tsikata, their lead counsel to prepare adequately.
This comes after he said they received Respondents' filed affidavits opposing their application for a review of a dismissed subpoena request for the Electoral Commission (EC) Chair, Jean Mensa to mount the witness box to testify.
According to him, he received a call from the court registrar close to midnight notifying him of the First and Second Respondents' filed affidavits.
Lawyers for President Akufo-Addo and the EC filed affidavits opposing the petitioners application for review to get their witnesses to mount the witness stand.
Mr Lithur said the soft copies of their affidavits were sent to him via email at 11:30 pm and he forwarded them to Mr Tsikata at 11:30 pm.
"In order to allow Lead Counsel for petitioners reasonable time to factor the said affidavits into his arguments in support of the application for review, I would respectfully request that this morning's proceedings be commence at 11:30 am instead of the scheduled 9.30 am," he pleased with the Chief Justice.
