The Eastern Regional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Dwamena Yeboah, has said that his outfit was putting a lot of measures in place to reduce crime rate in the region.
He has therefore appealed to the citizenry to collaborate with the Police to provide any information about all suspected criminals in their hideouts for them to take the necessary actions.
ACP Dwamena Yeboah said the police would protect the identity of all informants for them to be encouraged to provide the necessary information to flush out all criminals from the society.
The Regional Police Commander said this when he addressed 260 police personnel, who took part in an endurance walk on Saturday to ensure constant fitness.
ACP Dwamena Yeboah said when he took over as the Regional Commander, he realized that some of the police officers did not do constant fitness exercise and therefore as part of his goals, he instituted an endurance walk for personnel every two weeks.
He said the task ahead of the police was challenging and it would need periodic exercise of such nature to enable the personnel to stand on their feet and live up to expectation.
ACP Dwamena Yeboah said it was compulsory for all police personnel to take part in the exercise accept those on duty and that any officer, who was not on duty and failed to turn up would be investigated and if found guilty would be dealt with.
He said he had communicated to all divisional and district commanders to ensure that the exercise was carried out every two weeks.
ACP Dwamena Yeboah commended the personnel, who took part in the maiden exercise, and said the recent increment in their salaries under the Single Spine Salary Structure, was a great motivation and that they should work harder to justify it.
