Member of Parliament for Tamale North is asking government to set up a Standing Emoluments Commission to deal with salary discrepancies of Article 71 officeholders.
Alhassan Suhuyini's comments follow a recent uproar by public servants after the government suggested a 4 per cent salary increment for them.
The University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) recently went on strike for almost a month, asking for better conditions of service.
A group, Aggrieved Public Sector Workers Union, also hit the streets for the same reason.
The Teachers and Educational Workers Union has also given government a two-week ultimatum to heed their call for an 18% increase, instead of the 7% proposed by government.
In an interaction with Israel Laryea on the AM Show on JoyNews, Mr Suhuyini said, "we need an Emolument Commission looking at emoluments across board.
"Over the period, the issue of Article 71 holders has always largely been around emoluments to MPs. For a very long time, some people didn't know that Article 71 included the Judiciary and the Council of State.
"I think the best cure to this issue is to have a Standing Emoluments Commission, just as we have the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, to determine emoluments of all Public Sector Workers including Article 71 officeholders."
Alhassan Suhuyini's idea was well received by the Nhyiaeso MP, Dr Stephen Amoah who agreed that this will help stop Labour unrest and help move Ghana forward.
