The Tema Diocese of Methodist Church on Sunday launched the first Ewe version of Methodist Hymns for congregations in the Volta Region.
The diocese covers part of Greater Accra, Eastern and Volta Regions that have been using English hymns for worship.
The Ewe version would enable the congregations to participate fully in their own dialect during worship.
The translation and publication of the hymns were sponsored by Robert Ocran, Chief Executive Officer of Mankoadze Fisheries in Tema, a non Methodist in memory of his late wife, Madam Mary Yankson who was a chorister of Saint Paul's Methodist Cathedral.
Mr Odame Adams, Lay Chairman of the Church, launching the hymns "Methodist Eve Hadzigble" said Right Reverend Joseph Bannerman, a Reverend Minister of the Church mooted the idea in 1999.
He said leaders of the church accepted the idea and Mr Ocran offered financial support in view of his late wife's contribution to the church.
Right Reverend Samuel Achamfuo-Yeboah, Diocesan Bishop in a sermon, stressed the need for parents to give equal treatment to children irrespective of their gender to bring peace in the homes.
He referred to the prodigal son in the Bible and said if the father had rejected the son confusion would arise to disintegrate the family and impact negatively on the family and society.
Speaking on the theme "The Loving and Forgiving Father" Bishop Achamfuo-Yeboah warned parents against discrimination in the home.
He said parents should rather relate closely with their children to know them better and assist them to develop their God given talents for society.
The first copy was auctioned for one million cedis.
