Elizabeth Essuman delves deep into the complex intersection of faith and reasoning in contemporary society with Pan-Africanist Avraham Ben Moshe.
The conversation, described by Essuman as an effort “to educate and elevate,” seeks to help people understand the fine balance between faith and rational thought.
Mr. Moshe and other panelists argue that in an era where belief systems are being questioned, it is vital to maintain an open mind in discerning what is right and wrong.
During the discussion on an emerging Ghanaian awareness and education TV show, The Real Talk Podcast, Mr. Moshe expressed concern that many religious institutions have evolved into sanctuaries for extremism, legalism, and misguided zeal. Other panelists on the show also argued that these tendencies often mislead followers, stressing the need for individuals to research and understand religious teachings for themselves.
According to him, “Growing up, many people clung to outdated doctrines long abandoned by the liberal-minded,” highlighting how both the church and the mosque have, at times, become vessels for archaic dogmas and intolerance in the name of God.
