FDA cautions consumers against expired products

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) is cautioning consumers to be extra careful when buying products on the market.

The FDA says it has observed that wholesalers and retailers usually reduce prices of nearly expired or expired products and sell them at the latter parts of the year.

Speaking to Joy News, Head of Food Safety Management Department, Maria Lovelace-Johnson said the FDA has intensified post-market surveillance to deal with the trend.

She noted that the Authority will from next year focus more on public education to prevent them consumers from buying unwholesome products.

Maria Lovelace-Johnson urged consumers to make it a habit of always checking the expiring dates of products before purchase.
